Sunday 5 November : Surrey Steampunk Covention|
We’ve been there on loads of Saturdays, so for once we decided to see what it was like on a Sunday, a lot quitter, as only taking place in one venue but still as filled with silliness and quirkiness. There was pantyhose bowling, a very impressive pirate-steampunk themed pole dance, talks about Basilisks and other weird things. Lilly wandering around cuddling various rescued reptiles, ‘The Experimental Sonic Machines’ was quite an experience , full of wires, instruments , circular punch-cards, a tin foiled drum playing robot and several costume changes . My favourite version was the rotating bucket head one. Poor Simon had to follow such an unusual surreal act with Hi-Reciprocity…luckily singing about sinister ducks, witch, dark gardening and obituaries seemed to do the trick :).
We then had some teapot racing, canon shooting of cuddly toy and a shark zeppelin flying whilst a man was playing ambient on some very complicated synth machine and fractal pictures…the usual Sunday in New Malden
on the Saturday i made a new skirt for it , so decided i should make a new hat too :), need to tweak with it so not on an headband as the back of my ears still sore...
