Rat Scabies: Rennes-le-Château – Incredible new discoveries [Jan. 29th, 2016|12:02 pm]

Thursday 29 January: Rat Scabies: Rennes-le-Château – Incredible new discoveries

The Blurb: Rat Scabies was the drummer for punk rock troublemakers the Damned – but through his family’s interest in all things esoteric he has always been a Grailhunter. He’s been fascinated by the mystery of Rennes-le-Château since its inception in 1972. Now chairman of the Saunière Society, Rat has seen and heard it all, and has mixed with the great and the good and some of the downright dishonest...During his own researches he has been shown many things, been told many secrets and been privy to some outlandish theories. Rat has recently made an astounding new find among his father’s old papers: previously undisclosed documents from the late 1800s which appear to relate directly to the mystery of Rennes-le-Château. Never before seen, these documents will delight and intrigue every member of the Rennes-le-Château research fraternity while adding to the puzzle and mystery surrounding the enigma.
Rat invites you to view this new evidence with him, discuss its content and try to shed some light on the numerous challenges these enigmatic new documents present. This illustrated talk is a must for every true-blooded Rennie. You’ve heard this kind of claim before – but this time it’s for real!

It had been ages since my last talk at the Fortean Society and each time i think the Bell pub fill its wall with more fab weird taxidermy. Hunting for some near by Indian restaurant we discover a street of fabric shop sadly i didn't have the bits on me i need to match and never thought it would be so hard to find Indian food in Algate!!
Interesting talk , i like all things Cathars, Holy Grail, Rennes-le-Château, until yesterday i didn't even know there was a Saunieres Society in England or that Rennes-le-Château enthusiats were called Rennie, or even that Rat Scabies was one of them!!!!He def has his own punk style of talking to the audience :) , i wish it had been a little more background or talk about his own holy grail hunting rather than just the letters he recently discover and it is so early on into their deciphering. Also the usual issue that although most present were familiar with some of the Rennes-le-Château mysteries, not as such with finer details and names, also if like me been ages last time i was reading on it or went to visit it so a little more background or basis would have help to follow some of the conspiracy. Still a fun evening, made me return home and want to reimmerse myself in my all time favorite book, Holy Blood and Holy Grail , we also got his version to read .

It was also Mandy Birthday so it was nice to see her and jonny as well as a few regular faces there.

That looks positively bonkers - I must track it down!

Have you been to Rennes-le-Chateau? I have, by accident. I had no idea of the scale of the literature in French till I was in their shop.

We were doing a Cathars tour. Back when I read HBHG I still lived in Canada so the actual location of Rennes-le-Chateau had never sunk in. We were driving along a country road and saw a sign that said "Rennes-le-Chateau 4" and I made Jason take the turning.

My parents took me to Carcassone when I was 15, I discovered the Cathars some years later though. Our first proper holiday when we finally had money was to the area and we've been a couple times since.

Annoyingly, Jason gets to go to Toulouse for work occasionally and it never works out that I get to go along with him.
