For Christmas we had booked a more "fancy resort" at Candidasa Rama as i have never been to one and we fancied spending a few days relaxing in the sea (I say fancy as in more than homestays but still less than a night in travelodge here). We caught a shuttle bus to Candidasa (the shuttle bus to go between big town are really cheap but do stop everywheer and in everyone hotels) and arrived in our resort.
First disappointment ,the picture of sea bed in sand are true but slighly misgiving as Candidasa as his beaches destroyed by coral removal (being slowly rebuilt) and although we were next to the sea, no easy access and the sand feature was just pretty sand in front of a gate :( After some grumbling about where is the beach!!! they saw our sad faces at the news and decided to move us to double bed room (which i had booked but on arrival told all gone). The pool was gorgeous but as hot as a hot bath so not very refreshing, still we made good use of it especially at night when always empty. The on site had a special Xmas dinner but it was very expensive so we decided to go into town instead. That confused the staff as it seems no-one ever went without a taxi, (but then we did arrive by feet that also confused them) it is not even that far a walk but soon realised Candidasa wasn't what we had imagine, really just a coastal town with one long road and resorts on both side. We did find a beach in the middle but it was more pebble, slightly dirty and not that enticing. Eventually found a little resto/divecentre/resort with cheap menu and view of the sunset over the sea. Then walked by to our resort for a warm Xmas eve swim with a cocktail.
first room pretty but not most romantic for a xmas present to ourselves
bungalows on the outside , we had garden views , the more expensive ones have sea views
get our welcome flower necklace so everyone can sport the newbies :)
