Metal Female Voices Festival who's interested ?

Metal Female Voices Festival Wieze Belgium.

This was so excellent last time but a pain to get to…so ade50021 is considering running a coach this year over the weekend of 17th 18th October.
He has approached the coach company and have provisionally booked a 24 seater luxury coach
Approx cost will be £120 if we can get 18 people (coach travel to Belgium and return, and shuttle to and from venue)
Coach will run when WE want it to, so we won't miss any of the bands sets (like last time)
Travel out Friday evening, return to UK Sunday after final band.
Details will be confirmed when we get an indication if enough folks are interested.

Weekend

Top weekend with simonsatori , vampyresheep and Rob.

Saturday we started with tea in the Orchard in Grantchester (like stepping back in time) then we went for Punting & Pimms in Cambridge meadows for a few hours. Followed by Cambridge streets wandering and shopping.

Sunday we visited the stunning Burghley House with its Heaven room and Hell staircase, fabulous house.
Lots of fun in the Gardens of Surprises with lots of watery thing to play with and a wonderful Sculpture Park.
I returned directly from Simon to work this morning so photos will be updated as soon as possible…

Yippee it's the weekend… vampyresheep , myself and rob are invading simonsatori for the weekend (as he needs to remain within the area to do some cat sitting for those jousting in a muddy field).

The plan is some punting and visits…so we need the sun now!!!

Pimms and big sun hat is required when punting….so come on sunshine ..make an appearance

Last night was one of those so enjoyable gig evening when it is full of friends on stage and in the crowd, in one of my favourite venue (with many viewing points and levels) and only 2 mins from home.
Evening started with noodles and catching up with noughat , vulcanita and spidosaur …

Got to Dingwalls just in time to see ADORATION which did another splendid show. I love the full line of friends on one stage... It was fab that once again the venue was super packed and everyone was there in time to support them.

RAGGEDY ANGRY, never heard of them, but actually quite catchy, still not sure if to take too seriously or not, as they did look like a baby MM look-alike band but a fun metal bouncy bleepy eclectic set from cover of Coolio to Nightmare before Christmas…but utterly entertaining and full of energy. Anyone who does This is Halloween get brownie points from me…

It really got melting hot during the funtastic happy bouncy BIRTHDAY MASSACRE so ended up watching their set from various viewpoints, retrieving to the cooler back in the end …

To say it was downpour at the night ended it putting it mildly…might not live far but got quite a soaking…

Just been watching Michael Caine and Leonardo Di Caprio do the same scene again and again and again for the past few hours...but fun each time they pass next to us...the film being filmed is Nolan's Inception.

As you can imagine very little work been done in the library today.

My library has become french for the day

This is surreal…I now work in “bibliotheque de l’ecole d’architecture”

They are filming in the library, all the signs have been change to French signs, trolley filled with French books and Michael Caine and Di Caprio are just above my office right now…students come in and look very confused …just like I was when I walked in this morning.

Trying not to sound like a broken record…but as always an evening of packing (maybe I should just not unpack)...had to sort weekend suitcase as busy next few nights.

Once this out of the way, I could finally seat and relax…and I made a start on some accessories for the asylum festival.
All those watch parts found in Hampstead are just perfect…lots of bad sewing and glue gun later….I have the start of a steampunk handbag.
I also took a few pictures of the mad baroque steampunk headband I got in Whitby.

Sunday brought even more rain......followed by the ladies lunch of cheese and wine whilst the men were marching...I then returned to see the battle and see Simon boat landing...i got there a bit late so didn't have a good viewing spot so and went walking for many hours around town and about...and apparently miss an even better battle than on Saturday .
Lots of pretty pictures from when we went to revisit the battle fields once all public had gone...

Here we go again...

We arrived there on Friday afternoon (after a little detour via french supermarket).
Set up camp and saw the sky get darker and darker...
The boat was in the harbour and ready...didn't know at this stage it would be our ship to play with in the battle.

Veere 1809 was superb, Europe seem to take this re-enactment weekend to another level. The all town got involved, they all dressed up. Covered every streets (especially modern things ) with straw, old fashion clothes, barrels, wandering people with plague, street musicians, beggars, street market stalls, bands, animals, straw beer gardens, even an battle hospital full of gory amputations…the town is a postcard anyway but the whole ambience was lovely.
Massive British camps and allied forces, French camp, cavalry camp, regiments from just about everywhere and ships…
There was an massive old ship, from which Simon regiment went on smaller boats and row their way to the beach…start battling with the French, get lost in some very high grass, canon and firing in the tunnels, (the canon being taken from a little ship and put together again in a few minutes was most impressive). The battle then moved to this stunning scenery of green hills, water and windmills…regiment crossing wobbly bridge…quite a show… the Simon’s regiment had the best time of their life…and ended up beating the French on both days…
Lots of crowd watching , both days were sold out events, lots of fun visiting and enjoying the party atmosphere in town…always something to keep me occupied…even despite all that horrible rain.
The new regency mirror in our tent made it a very photograph one...and a very enjoyable weekend.
The town also had a templar tower in the church, wonderful deco shops and streets fabulous for wander and getting lost.
Still I was glad to return last night and enjoyed my first shower …photos next...still reading through past few days

I finally found time to attach my new wonderful signed art print from Linda Ravenscroft I bought at faery fest in the bedroom. Plan was to have it as bed head but there was too much stuff there and would have require a major reorganization ... instead went for the opposite wall as just some frames and big mirror to move…in some ways it’s great as I can look at it falling asleep…that corner still need a bit of work and decoration added (as still see way to much of those horrible white walls) but made a start with adding a few bits around the make it more at home with the room.

I also attempted to take a few photos of the bedroom as I was in there packing and nailing anyway but hard to find an angle for it and get the color and decorative dangling bits justice.

Just received my Mythical Creatures Stamps...they are gorgeous (maybe too gorgeous to use) dragons, unicorns, fairies, pixies...Created by the amazing Dave McKean , and you get a very nice poster on the other side.
First time i actually get a set rather then just the odd interesting one to send to family (various stamp collections)...
Even nicer than the Hammer Horror sets last year….might have to get to post office and get a few more to actually use...
