Wednesday 17 January: Urbain Grandier the Witch: History, Literature and Film

Lovely evening in Treadwells, great talk on Urbain Grandier by Dr John Callow. The Devils of Loudun is one of this book that really marked me and started many of my interests when i was 19 (i recall making everyone read at Bibliogoth many years later) and of course i also adore the film. i was so lucky to see Ken Russell in Conversation with Mark Kermode back in 2004 at the NFT and see some of the deleted footage. Yesterday was great as it highlighted some aspects of the whole affair i had not thought about before and even more reasons why the film is such a great adaptation. On top of that Inkubus Sukkubus lyrics got mentioned..well Happy cecile
