Macbeth in French [Nov. 10th, 2016|06:14 pm]

Wednesday 10 November : Macbeth in French

Great evening with Iain, we went to see the Macbeth as part of a french festival called Voila.  It has been a long time since I have been to a play were most of the public speaks in French. I do really like the Cockpit Theatre, amusingly last time I was there was to see Moliere Don Juan.  I have only seen other Macbeth versions at the Globe, so this was very different, a lot lower budget, a bit too minimalist set for my taste but the main two actors were very good, the cast was so international quite an explosion of accents. It did feel a bit rushed and did lack some blood. The weirdest thing was the witches, who wore hot pants, visionary goggles and did a routine to thriller for their incantation…amusing but did not see worked with the rest.
