Friday 31 July :Postdam: Chinese house, SansSouci Palace, Windmill & Follies
Got off the train, rented bikes and spent the day cycling around Postdam, what an amazing place i think one would need about a week to visit all the amazing palaces, houses and follies.
So many architecture styles and prettyness definately somewhere i want to return and explore some more, this has made me see Berlin another way and i think in many ways one of my favorite visit, love the contrast to the urban bohemian graffiti other side of berlin.
Cycling pass fountains, windmill, orangeries, witchy house, grand houses...
Got to Sans Souci and got tickets, so until then we went i visited the Chinesehouse!!! china as imagined in 1754, with buddhas, glasses wearing monkeys, gold overload, if you stand in middle most incredible echo.
In between we also went pass a huge Windmill making the scenery a bit sureal between the plam tree, orangeries and palaces.
SansSouci a little baroque palace with super ornated rooms. Unusual terrace hill at front for vineyards, huge sculptures holding the roof but really the splendor is inside if you like rococco overload and bling. The ceilings and walls become one with all the gilder reliefs, many including spiderwebs. Just so so pretty.
just off the train little church in town :)
disneyland of architecture
sans souci gardens
little ruined folly from the back
this was just like a gingerbread house
so much gold!!!!!
loved it inside too
windmill...making a very surreal landscape
love those filigree
a nice change of style and colours
