Nagano & Snow Monkeys Wednesday [Feb. 26th, 2014|06:14 pm]
MorbidFrog
Wednesday 12 Feb: Bullet trainto Nagano, Snow monkey in hot bath and Onsen.

That day we took the bullet train, a fab fast train with lots of leg space, smooth and funny nose.

We got to Nagano, visited the local Buddhist temple Jenkoji . This was beautiful and had the bibs around statues I kept seeing in Audrey photos. Amazing gates incorporating gate-guarding demons and some adorable temple hotels with raccoon-dog shrines amongst the street of pilgrim-shops leading up to the temple.

Then we had a rather splendid bento box of delicious food before boarding a train and then some taxis to go further into the mountains .

Snow Monkey
This was fab monkeys playing in the snow and when a nit cold jump into a natural hot water pool not too bothered to be surrounded by tourist looking at them doing so. They look so sweet and fluffy very hard not to be tempted to play with them or join them in hot baths.

Once we climbed back down the achingly beautiful snowy pine path to the taxis we were then taken to a nearby hotel where we got to play monkey in the same natural hot water (tub version one inside and one outside) . Similar to few weeks ago bathing in natural hot waters of Budapest , this time single-gendered and naked and involves little wooden stools to shower upon before entering the water. That was glorious.
